Ajaccio launches 'La Voix des quartiers' initiative to strengthen ties between residents and officials through regular dialogue and community engagement.
Ajaccio launches neighborhood dialogue initiative
The City of Ajaccio launched a new initiative called "La Voix des quartiers / A voci di i quartieri" on Monday, October 26, to strengthen communication between residents and local officials. The program, introduced by Mayor Stéphane Sbraggia, aims to create a structured way for people to voice concerns and engage in regular discussions with elected representatives.Focus on neighborhood diversity and dialogue
Mayor Sbraggia described Ajaccio as a city with a "mosaic of neighborhoods," each with distinct populations and needs. He emphasized that the initiative seeks to ensure that local officials are not only present but actively involved in a continuous dialogue, addressing both everyday issues and long-term development plans.Structure and organization of meetings
Caroline Corticchiato, the coordinator of the initiative, outlined the logistics: ten sectors across the city will have monthly meetings led by designated elected officials. These meetings will take place on the same day and time each month, in one or two locations per sector, with four to seven officials participating depending on the area.Long-term accessibility and engagement
The initiative is designed to be ongoing and open to all residents. Officials will rotate in hosting meetings, allowing for more flexible and effective communication. The first meetings are scheduled for early November, with details available on the city’s website, and the program may expand to include public forums and site visits to address specific concerns.Complementing existing tools and involvement of residents
Charly Voglimacci, Ajaccio’s deputy mayor, clarified that the initiative will not replace existing local services, such as Allo Mairie for issues like road maintenance or lighting. However, it will encourage greater resident involvement, including participatory budgeting and collaboration with local associations and social landlords on neighborhood development.Implementation and future reporting
The city plans to track the main topics discussed during meetings and provide updates to the Municipal Council. An annual report will summarize the initiative’s progress, ensuring transparency and accountability in the ongoing dialogue between residents and local officials.
