Residents of Aube can expect a return to normal conditions following the completion of infrastructure work on the rocade, which has been under construction since September 7 and concludes this Tuesday, September 22. The project, spread across three phases, affected areas including La Chapelle-Saint-Luc, Barberey-Saint-Sulpice, and Lavau. The work focused on two main aspects: improving the hydraulic transparency of the road and enhancing its structural security. One of the key components of the project was the "hydraulic transparency structure," which involved refurbishing bridge joints on the outer rocade, specifically on RD610 near the Saint-Étienne canal. This structure was built to allow natural water flow from the canal, which stretches over 2.3 kilometers, ensuring that floodwaters can pass through without disrupting the surrounding aquatic ecosystems. This kind of infrastructure is crucial in preventing environmental damage and maintaining ecological balance in waterways. The second part of the project aimed to secure the road by redoing the joints between bridges and installing new ones. These improvements are essential to maintaining the integrity of the road and ensuring the safety of drivers. The entire project was funded by the department with a budget of 100,000 euros, and officials emphasized that the interventions were necessary to preserve the bridges and ensure safe road conditions for the public. During the construction period, traffic was rerouted in the affected areas, and the final disruptions occurred during the third phase. On Monday, September 21, the inner rocade was reduced to a single lane of traffic on the motorway due to adjustments on the bridge joints near the Michelin roundabout and the slow lane. With the project now complete, traffic will resume without diversions, allowing residents to return to their usual routines.
