Toulon faced a heavy 28-0 defeat against Montpellier in a recent rugby match, during which fullback Melvyn Jaminet struggled with several errors involving the ball. The RCT, Toulon's rugby team, is now seeking strategies to help Jaminet regain his form. Melvyn Jaminet is often described as one of the most exceptional kickers in international rugby, with Fabien Galthié, the head coach of the French national team, calling him "the tallest and the longest in the kicking game on the international circuit." Previously, Jaminet was considered one of the most accurate kickers in the first 50 meters of a match, a critical area for scoring points. However, Jaminet is currently experiencing a challenging period. During Toulon's heavy loss to Montpellier, he showed a lack of enthusiasm from the start of the season, and his kicking accuracy declined. In addition to some awkward handling of the ball, which was made worse by the rainy conditions, Jaminet sent two kicks directly out of bounds at the 19th and 76th minutes. He also missed a penalty kick at the 22nd minute and another from 22 meters that nearly faced the posts, a rare occurrence for a player of his caliber. Maxime Petitjean, Toulon's kicking coach, told Var-Matin that he has never seen Jaminet miss a kick like this and believes it will likely be the only one of his career. Petitjean mentioned the possibility of Jaminet taking a kicking break if he feels it necessary to refocus, a decision that will be considered during the week as Toulon prepares to host Racing 92 and its strong team from the Pacific region. The team could greatly benefit from Jaminet's kicking skills in the upcoming match. Petitjean emphasized that Jaminet consistently performs well during training, successfully completing a 15/15 warm-up before the match against Montpellier. He noted that all kickers experience off days, but the key is to keep these periods as short as possible.
