Mikel Landa claimed victory in the 20th stage of La Vuelta 2026 on Saturday, securing a dramatic win on the final mountain stage. The stage featured a successful breakaway, with Landa making a decisive move seven kilometers from the finish line. He powered through the challenging climb of Collado del Alguacil, a 8.4-kilometer ascent with a 9.9% gradient, to finish alone at the top. Landa edged out Tobias Halland Johannessen of Uno-X Mobility and Ramses Debruyne of Alpecin – Premier Tech. This win marks Landa’s return to victory after more than five years, with his last success dating back to August 2021 at the Tour of Burgos. Felix Gall of Décathlon CMA CGM gained time on his rivals during the stage, but he remains in third place in the overall general classification. Enric Mas of Movistar Team continues to lead the race, maintaining a strong position as the final stage approaches. Meanwhile, Sepp Kuss of Visma | Lease a Bike climbed to fifth place after launching an early attack, while Oscar Onley of Netcomany Ineos fell out of the top five. Enric Mas is widely expected to win the Vuelta, having finished 14th in Saturday’s stage, behind Felix Gall and ahead of Primoz Roglic. Roglic, who has been a consistent contender in the race, is anticipated to join Mas on the podium in Grenada on Sunday unless an unexpected accident disrupts the outcome. The final stage will determine the ultimate winner of La Vuelta 2026, with the race set to conclude in the Spanish city of Grenada.
