Mikel Landa has claimed victory in the 20th stage of the Vuelta a España, securing his second stage win on the race in solo fashion. The 36-year-old Basque cyclist achieved this milestone 11 years after his first stage win, marking a significant personal achievement. The stage concluded with a challenging climb on the Collado del Aguacil, a mountain pass that had never been featured in a professional cycling race before. Landa broke away from his companions in the escape group during the final ascent, ultimately reaching the summit alone and beating competitors like Tobias Johannessen and Ramses Debruyne. Enric Mas, the current leader of the race wearing the red jersey, continued his strong performance ahead of the final stage in Grenade. Since the withdrawal of Tadej Pogacar, Mas has emerged as a solid contender for overall victory. During the 20th stage, he faced multiple attacks, including from Richard Carapaz, but remained composed and even extended his lead over his closest rival, Primoz Roglic. Although Roglic managed to regain some time, he fell short of overtaking Mas in the general classification. The stage also saw Wout van Aert take the green jersey for the day, which is awarded to the best sprinter, marking his first time earning this honor on the Vuelta. Van Aert initiated the day's escape, which included several riders, but ultimately, Landa’s solo effort proved to be the most successful. As the race approaches its final stage in Grenade, Enric Mas stands at the top of the general classification, with Primoz Roglic and Felix Gall set to join him on the podium. The stage provided a mix of dramatic climbs, strategic racing, and personal milestones, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the Vuelta a España.
