Festival highlights African-European film collaboration

The 13th edition of the Emergence Festival, themed "Cinematic Meeting Between Africa and Europe in Togo," is taking place from November 2 to November 11 in Lome, Togo. The festival, also known as the "Nomadic Festival," is a joint production between the Emergence Films Festival and the Off-Courts festival in Normandy, France.

Event brings together global film professionals

The festival gathers professionals, filmmakers, and young talents from Africa and Europe for film screenings, training sessions, and networking events aimed at growing the film industry. Thirty-eight short films and five feature films from ten African countries and their diaspora are competing in categories such as animation, documentary, and fiction.

Initiative to boost African creative industries

The festival is part of a broader effort to build an ecosystem that supports the growth of African creative industries. Joel Tchedre, director of the Emergence Films Festival, says the partnership between a local festival and an experienced European organization helps transfer skills, open new markets, and develop projects that may attract international funding.

Focus on training and mentorship for filmmakers

The event emphasizes training and supporting emerging filmmakers through workshops on acting and screenwriting. It also includes a development laboratory that helps 18 producers and directors refine their feature film projects with guidance from African and European mentors.
