A new eco-label logo and Flavor of the Year honors for Metis Oxy plum mark fresh steps in sustainable agriculture and French food innovation.
New logo and Flavor of the Year
A new logo was introduced for the Vergers écoresponsables label, which promotes environmentally responsible farming. Alongside this, the Metis Oxy plum was elected Flavor of the Year for its juicy, crunchy, and tasty qualities. Origin of the Metis Oxy plum
The Metis Oxy plum was developed through a natural breeding program that involved pollinating plum flowers with apricot pollen. It is part of the Metis range, created twelve years ago by Star Fruits and Rusticas Del Guadalquivir, and is grown in the Southwest of France, marketed by Blue Whale. Provençal almonds in calissons
Aix Tradition, an emblematic French confectionery house, plans to make its entire calissons range 100% Provence almonds by 2026. This effort began in 2015 with the Paca agricultural chamber to build a local supply chain. Progress in Provençal almond use
Local almonds have increased in the calissons over the years, from 15% in the first year to 50% in 2024-2025. The goal is to fully transition to Provençal almonds by 2026, supporting regional agriculture. Tricolor peanut project in France
A project to produce tricolor peanuts for appetizers is underway in France. It began with five farmers on ten hectares and now involves nearly fifteen producers on 30 hectares, following several years of experimentation. Partners in the peanut project
The project includes Menguy's, a specialist in appetizer peanuts, and Océalia, a cooperative from Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Océalia handles harvesting and drying, while Menguy's roasts and salts the peanuts in Mazamet (Tarn). Goal for tricolor peanut production
The goal for 2030 is to produce more than 2,000 tons of tricolor peanuts with a hundred cooperative partner associates. This aims to strengthen local agricultural production and diversify the market. Fruit and vegetable event in Paris
