Amelia Dimoldenberg has announced that her popular YouTube series Chicken Shop Date will come to an end after more than 12 years and over 100 episodes. The comedian and content creator shared the news on her Instagram account, saying she never imagined she would one day say goodbye to the show but feels it is now time to move on. Chicken Shop Date is a unique concept where Dimoldenberg pretends to go on "dates" with celebrities at London chicken shops, blending humor, light-hearted flirtation, and entertainment. The show has featured a range of high-profile guests, including Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Cher, Jennifer Lawrence, and Andrew Garfield. Dimoldenberg mentioned that she had a long, playful on-and-off flirtation with Garfield, which she described as "will-they-won’t-they" but only slightly fictional. She has called the series her "very own romcom" and thanked her audience for supporting her journey over the years. While she didn’t specify an exact end date, Dimoldenberg hinted at a final series of episodes, saying she wants to "celebrate the series with a few final dates... coming very soon." The show has been a cornerstone of her career, but she has also expanded into other areas of entertainment. She now serves as the official red carpet correspondent for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, hosts shows for Channel 4 and ITV, and made a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Additionally, she is reported to be writing and starring in a romantic comedy film for Amazon. At the Edinburgh TV Festival, Dimoldenberg revealed she is working on a teen drama series for the BBC, which she described as her "version of Skins." She also mentioned that some big names in entertainment, including Timothée Chalamet and Beyoncé, have turned down invitations to appear on Chicken Shop Date. Despite the show’s end, Dimoldenberg’s career continues to evolve, showing that while one chapter is closing, new opportunities are on the horizon.
