In March, Xiaomi, a major Chinese technology company, introduced the Scooter 6 Lite, a version of its Scooter 6 electric scooter. Recently, Xiaomi expanded its lineup with the release of the Scooter 6 Essential in France. This model shares many features with the Scooter 6 Lite but includes some design compromises. Initially, Xiaomi suggested the Essential version would be cheaper than the Lite, but this did not happen. The Scooter 6 Essential was launched at 359.99 euros, but Xiaomi later cut the price to 339.99 euros. Even with this discount, the Essential version is still more expensive than the Lite, which is available at some retailers like Fnac and Darty for 329.99 euros. However, the Essential version is priced the same on Xiaomi's own website. The Scooter 6 Essential is equipped with a 500 W motor that can handle slopes with an incline of up to 15 percent. It includes an integrated LED screen on the handlebar, front and rear lights for visibility during night rides, and two speed modes: Sport mode, which allows a peak speed of 25 km/h, and Eco mode, which limits speed to 15 km/h but increases battery life. The scooter has a range of about 25 km on a single charge, with a full recharge taking eight hours. The only difference between the Scooter 6 Essential and the Lite version is the absence of a double spring suspension at the front. This makes the Essential version lighter by nearly two kilograms. While this change may appeal to users who prioritize weight over comfort, it also means the Essential lacks the smoother ride offered by the Lite model. Xiaomi's decision to release multiple versions of its electric scooter highlights the growing popularity of such devices, especially in urban areas where they are used as a convenient alternative to cars or public transport. The company continues to refine its product line to cater to different consumer preferences and price points.
