High-efficiency solar panel introduced

Chinese manufacturer JinkoSolar has unveiled a new residential solar module called the JKM485–510T series. This fully black panel has a power output of 510 W and is based on the company's new TAC cell technology, targeting high-end residential markets with limited roof space.

Technical features of the new module

The module claims an efficiency of 25.52%, a power density of about 255 W/m², and a 40-year warranty covering both performance and product life. It is designed for villas and homes where aesthetics, power density, and long-term reliability are key considerations.

Design improvements for efficiency and appearance

JinkoSolar integrated several technologies to enhance the module's efficiency and appearance. The Gapless Cell Array (GCA) technology eliminates spaces between cells, while hidden interconnections and collector bars reduce inactive areas, increasing the effective light capture surface by about 2%.

Electrical design improvements

The module uses Uniform Matrix Interconnection (UMI), which replaces traditional printed collector bars with distributed electrical connections. This design shortens current paths, reduces resistive losses, and minimizes mechanical stress on the cells.

Color uniformity and light trapping

To improve the panel's appearance, JinkoSolar applied its color uniformity technology (ACC), which uses precise control of coating thickness and refractive index with AI-assisted cell sorting. The Full-Spectrum Light Trapping (FLT) technology also improves light utilization under low sunlight or oblique angles.

Performance and reliability features

The module has a power temperature coefficient of −0.24 %/°C, slightly better than previous JinkoSolar TOPCon products. It also provides about 30 W more power than conventional rear-contact modules of similar size. A peripheral humidity barrier (PMB) technology helps prevent moisture penetration and corrosion.

Additional design for reliability

An optimized current diversion design is included to reduce power losses and prevent hot spots in case of partial shading. The module comes with a 40-year product warranty and a 40-year linear power warranty, ensuring long-term performance.

Company goals and market strategy

JinkoSolar's CEO, Charlie Cao, stated the goal was to create a panel specifically for high-end residential roofs. The new module complements the company's Tiger Neo 5.0 range, which includes larger TOPCon modules with power outputs over 700 W and efficiencies up to 25.91%. Europe and Australia are identified as key target markets for residential applications.

Commercialization details pending

The company has not yet provided details on the commercialization schedule, pricing, or production volumes for this new TAC technology-based module.
