Tongwei Solar introduces new solar module

Tongwei Solar unveiled the TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48, a new solar module with 48 cells, at the Solar & Storage Live UK event. This module is designed for rooftop installations or areas with limited space, where mounting conditions and aesthetics can vary widely.

Module's performance and efficiency

The TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48 has a standard size of 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm and offers a power output of up to 490 W with an energy efficiency of 24.5%. This is a 30 W gain per module compared to conventional TOPCon modules, enabling higher installed capacity on the same roof area.

Production gains in low light

Field tests showed an average production gain of 3.3% per watt compared to conventional BC modules under tested conditions. In low light, such as early morning and late afternoon, the production gain reached up to 12.32%, which is especially useful in time-of-use tariff scenarios with higher electricity prices.

Energy output and cost efficiency

In the tested scenario, the TNC achieved 447.56 full-load equivalent hours, compared to 433.27 hours for conventional BC modules. This represents a 3.3% increase in production capacity, leading to an additional daily revenue of about 0.03 € under the tested conditions.

Cost savings and initial investment

The TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48 provides a competitive initial cost by reducing capital expenditure (CAPEX). For a standard 12-module system, it offers savings of over 400 € compared to conventional BC modules, due to its higher energy efficiency.

Performance under roof inclination

Simulations in Germany showed the TNC experienced only a 0.38% energy loss due to roof inclination under low-light conditions, compared to 0.96% for conventional BC modules. This means conventional BC modules were over 2.5 times more sensitive to roof inclination in the tested scenario.

Power loss reduction under shading

The TNC technology also shows a lower power loss rate under various shading conditions. Compared to conventional BC modules, the reduction in power loss reached 0.40% under light shading, 0.73% under moderate shading, and 0.99% under heavy shading.

Design flexibility and aesthetics

Beyond its performance versatility, the TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48 is available in a fully black version or with only a black frame. This gives customers greater freedom in system configuration, allowing optimal use of limited rooftop space while considering aesthetic preferences.
