Audi is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the A2 e-tron, a compact electric sedan designed to appeal to a wider audience. Traditionally focusing on more premium segments, Audi is now entering the compact electric sedan market with this model, reviving the A2 name that was used in the 2000s for a pioneering city car known for its lightweight aluminum construction. The A2 e-tron is engineered for efficiency, featuring an aerodynamic design with an air penetration coefficient (Cx) of 0.24, which is more efficient than similar models like the Peugeot E-308 (0.27) and the Volkswagen ID.3 (0.263). Design elements from the Concept C, unveiled in 2025, are incorporated, including a large front "black panel" that integrates headlights and sensors, as well as door handles that fold out into small wings to improve aerodynamics. Inside, the A2 e-tron offers a modern and cohesive interior with two curved screens that form a single display surface. The driver has an 11.9-inch screen, while a 12.8-inch infotainment screen runs on Android Automotive OS. The car includes two magnetic and cooled induction chargers, each with a power output of 25 watts, based on the Qi 2.2 standard. It also features a Sonos-developed sound system with 14 speakers and 660 watts of power. Recycled polyester is used for the dashboard and door panels, and a panoramic roof is included. The trunk space is 396 liters—slightly larger than the Volkswagen ID.3's 385 liters—with an additional 13-liter frunk for small items. The A2 e-tron is built on the improved MEB platform, which is also used in the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo and Cupra Born. This platform features a rear-engine layout and supports various battery sizes, allowing for a range of up to 649 kilometers on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle—surpassing the Volkswagen ID.3's 629 km. The vehicle is available in four power configurations, from 125 kW (170 hp) up to 240 kW (326 hp), each with different ranges and charging times. The base model with a 52 kWh battery starts at 38,600 euros, offering a range of 423 km, while the top-tier version is priced at up to 52,000 euros. The A2 e-tron will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, which opens on October 12, 2026. Orders will be accepted at the same time, marking the beginning of its availability to consumers. This new model highlights Audi’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio and targeting a broader range of buyers with a combination of efficiency, technology, and design.
