A new carmaker named Ceer has emerged as a joint venture between Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Foxconn, a major electronics manufacturer known for assembling Apple products. The name "Ceer" means "to drive forward" in Arabic and represents Saudi Arabia's first domestic automaker. This initiative is part of the country's Vision 2030 plan, which aims to reduce dependence on oil and promote technological innovation and economic diversification by the end of the decade. Ceer's flagship models, the Exobot sedan and SUV, showcase the company's technological capabilities and its vision for the future of automotive design. The company has ambitious plans to introduce seven new vehicles into its portfolio by 2030, some of which will be hybrid models that combine traditional internal combustion engines with electric powertrains. These plans highlight Ceer's focus on innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. Currently, Ceer's sales are expected to be limited to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, which includes Saudi Arabia and other nearby countries. However, the company emphasizes that it is developing products that are competitive on a global scale. While no immediate plans for international expansion have been announced, the company remains open to growing its market presence if there is sufficient demand for its vehicles. This new venture underscores Saudi Arabia's broader economic strategy to build a more diversified and technologically advanced economy. By entering the automotive sector, the country is taking a significant step toward reducing its reliance on oil and positioning itself as a hub for innovation in the Middle East.
