Ugreen, a company known for its storage and power solutions, is expanding its product line with the introduction of the HomeAgent ecosystem. This new system aims to centralize various smart home functions, including surveillance, connected devices, and personal memories, using a locally operating AI. Unlike many smart home systems that rely on cloud-based processing, the HomeAgent ecosystem processes data locally, which means it can function even when the Internet is down. This approach gives users more control over their data and eliminates the need for a subscription to cloud storage services. The HomeAgent ecosystem consists of three main components: the HA100 and HA100 Pro models, and the MasterAgent MA100. The HA100 includes three storage bays for 2.5 or 3.5-inch hard drives, with two dedicated to network-attached storage (NAS) data and one for surveillance video. It also features an M.2 NVMe 2280 slot for a solid-state drive (SSD) specifically designed for AI models and an integrated acceleration card. This setup allows the system to run AI tasks locally, ensuring smooth performance without relying on an internet connection. The HomeAgent system offers several smart home features, such as triggering an "absence mode" through voice commands, controlling compatible devices using standards like Matter or ONVIF, and identifying people, animals, or packages in video footage. Some features will be available after the initial launch, and the AI assistant, called Uliya, currently does not support the French language. Ugreen also plans to release a range of compatible cameras, including the SynCare ID500 Pro, OD600 Pro, and OD800 Pro, along with a speaker and a connected frame called Gallery. The AI Highlights function will allow the system to identify meaningful moments in home videos, link them with locally stored photos, and display them on the connected frame. Reservations for the HomeAgent ecosystem will open on September 4, with a planned Kickstarter campaign launching on October 27. However, final pricing, delivery dates, and availability in France have not yet been announced. This new product line marks Ugreen's move into the broader smart home market, aiming to provide a more integrated and locally controlled experience for users.
