At the RENT salon in Paris, Stanislas Chertok, co-founder and CEO of Joe AI, met a year ago with investors who are now backing his startup. Chertok, a former first employee of Shares, founded Joe AI in 2024 alongside Victor Perez. The company recently completed a funding round of 2 million euros, led by Xplore, the innovation capital branch of Épopée Gestion. Existing investor Plug and Play Ventures, along with several business angels—including Marc Menasé, owner of Maddyness and president of Founders Future, and Benjamin Chemla, founder of Shares—also participated. About 90 percent of the funding comes from equity investments, while the remaining portion is public financing, mostly from Bpifrance, according to Chertok.
Joe AI claims to have over 500 clients in France and processes several hundred thousand communications each month. Its AI agents handle interactions through phone, email, SMS, WhatsApp, or live chat with prospects, property owners, tenants, and co-owners. Unlike chatbots, which simply respond, Joe AI’s agents take concrete actions. “There is an infinite number of scenarios for all the questions that our personas can ask, and then very concrete actions,” Chertok explains. The company aims to handle up to 95 percent of incoming requests across all channels, allowing human teams to focus on more complex tasks like general meetings or negotiations.
For the founders, the real estate sector is particularly well-suited for AI agents due to the high volume of requests. “A syndic client told me he received more calls than the Samu,” Chertok says, referring to the French emergency medical service. He highlights the repetitive nature of many requests, such as inquiries about rent receipts or water damage. “Real estate may be the most fertile ground, because the volume of communication there is gigantic,” he says. He points to the United States, where property management has already given rise to EliseAI, a company recently valued at 4 billion dollars. “In Europe, no actor of this size exists yet, there is really a European leadership position to be taken,” he adds.
The new funding will mainly be used to refine the product, expand into the commercial real estate sector, and grow the company’s distribution network, both in France and internationally. Joe AI plans to start its European expansion in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, leveraging existing software publisher partnerships and customer networks. “Our product is very scalable, multilingual by nature, and in Southern Europe, real estate agencies generally work in the same way,” Chertok explains. The team currently has 10 employees and plans to hire several account executives, a product manager, and two developers thanks to the new funding.
