Romain Gavras new film released
Romain Gavras, known for his 2018 film The World is Yours, has directed a new film titled Sacrifice for a streaming platform, following his 2022 release Athena. Film's central themes and setting
Sacrifice explores themes of environmentalism and celebrity culture through a post-apocalyptic narrative, using a fictional scenario to comment on real-world issues. Main characters and plot
The film features Chris Evans as Mike Tyler, an egotistical and chaotic celebrity who becomes the reluctant "hero" of a cult led by Anya Taylor-Joy. The plot revolves around a fundraising event where the guests are taken hostage by a post-apocalyptic cult. Supporting cast and criticism
Notable supporting roles are played by Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek Pinault, John Malkovich, and Charli XCX, though these roles are considered underutilized in the final cut of the film. Reception and critiques
The film's aesthetic and musical elements have been criticized for prioritizing style over substance, with some viewers questioning the purpose and sincerity of the narrative.
