Explora Journeys, a brand owned by the Italian cruise company MSC, has unveiled its largest ship to date, the Explora III. This vessel is part of the Explora Journeys fleet and is designed to offer a hotel-like experience at sea, with a focus on luxury and comfort. Unlike traditional cruise ships, the company avoids using the term "cruise" in its marketing, instead promoting it as a "new expression of luxury." The Explora III is the third ship in the fleet and is significantly larger than its two sister ships, measuring 63 feet longer and accommodating up to 938 passengers. It features expansive open-air decks, providing more space for guests to enjoy the sea and the sun. The ship is packed with amenities typically found in high-end hotels. It includes three heated outdoor pools, five indoor and outdoor heated whirlpools, and a pool surrounded by sunbeds under a retractable roof. A new Shore Club offers Mediterranean-inspired snacks, while 12 bars and lounges cater to different tastes, from the Malt Whisky Bar, which serves rare whiskies, to The Cellar, a new wine bar for tastings. All food and drinks are included in the cruise fare, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of dining and drinking experiences without extra charges. Wellness and fitness are also central to the Explora III experience. The ship offers outdoor exercise bikes, rowing machines, and a tennis court that can be converted into a basketball court. It also features one of the first padel courts at sea. The spa and gym are free to use, and guests can enjoy complimentary sound bar sessions. A new specialty treatment, the Sava Sound Pod, uses musical vibrations for a unique massage experience. The ship also caters to families, with the Nautilus Club for children aged six to 17, offering game consoles, a pool table, and a pinball machine. Accommodations on the Explora III are designed to be luxurious and spacious. Each cabin is a suite with a view of the sea, and many include a regularly stocked minibar and the assistance of butlers or hosts. The ship has 313 Ocean Suites, 109 Penthouses, and 39 Ocean Residences with large floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces. Two Owner’s Residences stand out, with one designed by architect Patricia Urquiola. This suite includes high-end artworks, a marble bathroom, a private steam room, a whirlpool, and separate areas for dining and lounging. This autumn, the Explora III will sail around Canada and the United States, with plans to head to the Caribbean for winter cruises. A seven-night Caribbean cruise from Miami to Puerto Rico, departing on December 6, starts from £3,110 per person. The cruise highlights the ship's blend of luxury, comfort, and innovative amenities, positioning it as a unique option for travelers seeking a high-end experience at sea.
