A 36-year-old woman named Ivanna Lisette Ortiz has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly opening fire on the property of singer Rihanna in Beverly Hills. The incident occurred on March 8, when Ortiz, from Florida, arrived at the residence and fired multiple times with an AR-type rifle. At that time, Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, Rihanna’s mother, and two staff members were present on the premises. No one was injured, but the gunfire also reportedly targeted a neighboring home where two people were present. According to People.com, Ortiz faces ten counts of assault with a firearm and three counts related to shooting at an inhabited place. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the shooting before being arrested in Sherman Oaks. The motive for the attack remains unclear, though authorities noted that Ortiz had posted several mysterious messages on Facebook before the incident that appeared to reference Rihanna. Ortiz, who is a 36-year-old speech therapist from Orlando, had pleaded not guilty to the charges in March. However, the legal process was temporarily paused to assess whether she was mentally fit to stand trial. On Tuesday, a judge from the Superior Court of Los Angeles ruled that she was mentally capable of appearing in court. She remains in custody with a bail set at $2.65 million and could face up to life in prison if found guilty of the charges. A preliminary hearing to determine the next steps in the case is scheduled for October 29. The case has drawn significant public and media attention, given the high-profile nature of the victims and the severity of the alleged crime.
