A fan-driven project known as State of Leonida is nearing completion on its sixteenth version, aiming to recreate the fictional state of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) based on official trailers, screenshots, and a leaked map. The project is led by a person named Yanis, who coordinates contributions through platforms like Discord and X (formerly Twitter). Another contributor, Synth Potato, has also played a role in the effort. The latest official trailer, called the Extended Look, provided fans with a wealth of details about the fictional city of Vice City and its surrounding areas. In mid-August, a development map shared by a group called Cyberleek altered the general layout of the State of Leonida map. This leaked map, reported by Numerama, has sparked questions about the group’s intentions and the accuracy of the fan-made recreation. The leaked information has led to changes in several regions, including the fragmentation of Mount Kalaga National Park in the north, more detailed coastlines for Port Gellhorn in the west, and a clearer understanding of the Leonida Keys, a group of islands in the south and their connections to the mainland. Other areas like Ambrosia, Grassrivers, and Vice City have seen less dramatic changes but have gained greater precision through recent official screenshots. Rockstar North, the development studio behind GTA 6, has indicated that the game's map is approximately twice as large as that of GTA 5, with Vice City alone being twice the size of Los Santos. However, the State of Leonida map is the result of amateur work, partially based on leaked information. While the fan project is highly detailed, it remains an estimate, and the real map will be revealed with the official release of GTA 6 on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders have already begun, with the game priced at 80 euros in France. The third official trailer for GTA 6 was released on Netflix and YouTube at the end of August, offering a glimpse into gameplay elements as part of a much-anticipated preview. A 27-minute trailer was analyzed by fans and media, highlighting key aspects of the game. However, some users reported technical issues, including outages, and found that viewing the trailer on YouTube required a login account. The release date of November 19 has been postponed several times, adding to the anticipation and speculation around the game’s launch.
