Milan Barbitch seeks European league opportunity

Milan Barbitch, a 25-year-old basketball player, has been exploring opportunities in European leagues, having previously spent time in Greece and Poland last season. His goal of eventually joining the Spanish Liga Endesa has so far not been realized, though he recently spent a month in Andorra during the preseason. However, he did not convince coach Žan Tabak to include him in the team for the regular season.

Barbitch's career highlights and challenges

Barbitch, who was an All-Star in the Betclic ÉLITE league in 2023, has had a varied career, playing for teams such as Blois, Fos-Provence, and Nanterre after his time with Paris Basketball. Last season, he played for a team in Rhodes, Greece, but his performance was limited due to injuries, including a knee and quadriceps injury. He averaged 5 points and 4.2 assists per game over six matches.

Positive experience in Greece and success in Poland

Despite these challenges, Barbitch expressed that his experience in Greece was not entirely negative, stating that it was a good experience both on and off the court. He later joined a club in Gdynia, Poland, where he led the team to the semifinals of the championship with notable performances, averaging 11.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.

Potential move to Italian league

According to reports from L'Arena Sport, Barbitch is now in discussions to become a backup player for C.J. Massinburg at Verona, which has been promoted to the first division. The Verona team has brought in several high-profile players this summer, including Mike Tobey and Andrew Andrews. However, no official contract has been signed yet, and discussions are ongoing, particularly regarding the duration of the commitment, which is expected to be at least two months.

Importance of health and consistency for Barbitch

Barbitch's move to Italy, even for a short period, is seen as a step up from his previous experiences in Greece and Poland. His ability to stay healthy and perform consistently will be crucial in making the most of this opportunity.
