The JBL Charge 5 is currently being sold at a discounted price of 79.99 € at Boulanger during the French Days promotion, significantly lower than its usual price of 199.99 €. This promotion highlights the speaker’s key features, including a long battery life, resistance to dust and water, and the ability to function as an external power source for other devices. However, the 20 € discount code, FRENCH20, which applies to baskets over 200 €, cannot be automatically applied to the Charge 5, meaning customers may need to adjust their purchase to use the discount. The JBL Charge 5 is not the newest model in the JBL lineup, but it remains a popular choice for those looking for a durable, portable speaker for outdoor use. Its battery life is impressive, lasting up to 20 hours under normal conditions, and a Clubic test found it to play music for about 25 hours at moderate volume. The speaker is IP67 certified, which means it is dustproof and can withstand being submerged in water for up to 30 minutes. Additionally, it has a USB-A port that can be used to charge other devices, though this feature slightly reduces its own battery life. Compared to its predecessor, the Charge 4, the Charge 5 offers improved sound quality with a dedicated tweeter for clearer high notes. However, it still uses a single speaker, making it monophonic rather than stereo. The newer JBL Charge 6, in contrast, includes more advanced features such as Bluetooth 5.4, LE Audio with Auracast support, USB audio input, and IP68 certification, which offers better water resistance than the Charge 5. These upgrades make the Charge 6 a better option for users who need the latest connectivity and additional features. The French Days promotion, which runs from September 7 to September 14, features various deals and discounts at multiple retailers. While the JBL Charge 5 is a solid, budget-friendly option for those who prioritize durability and battery life over the newest technology, the Charge 6 may be more suitable for users seeking cutting-edge features and improved connectivity.
