JBL has launched the Pulse 6, the latest model in its range of Bluetooth portable speakers. The speaker was unveiled in the United States at the end of August and will be available in France starting October 6. The new model introduces AI Sound Boost, a feature that uses artificial intelligence to analyze music in real time, optimizing sound quality and reducing distortion. This improved acoustic design is said to deliver a more natural, balanced sound with deeper bass than the previous model. The Pulse 6 features a 30 W RMS woofer and a 10 W RMS tweeter, offering a frequency response range of 42 Hz to 20 kHz. This is a significant improvement over the Pulse 5, which started at 58 Hz. The speaker also includes dedicated buttons for playback and volume control, a feature not present in the previous model. These enhancements are attributed to the AI Sound Boost processing and the new acoustic architecture. A notable design update is the inclusion of a metal handle equipped with its own lights, enhancing the speaker's visual appeal and making it easier to carry. The Pulse 6 weighs 1.49 kg, slightly more than the Pulse 5, which weighed approximately 1.5 kg. JBL provides 16 light themes, including ten ambient and six festive options. The Sunset mode in the JBL One app allows users to set an adjustable one-hour countdown, after which the music stops when the light turns off. A double press of a button activates the Bedside Lamp function, emitting a warm light. The Pulse 6 supports Bluetooth 6.0 and offers lossless playback via USB-C, with compatibility for codecs such as SBC, AAC, and LC3. It replaces the older PartyBoost pairing protocol with Auracast technology, enabling it to connect with other compatible JBL speakers. The sound and light effects can be synchronized with multiple Pulse 6 units, compatible PartyBox speakers, and the JBL PartyLight Stick. However, owners of the Pulse 5 will not be able to sync their older models with the new Pulse 6. The Pulse 6 offers up to 12 hours of battery life (14 hours with Playtime Boost mode), matching the Pulse 5, but with a battery capacity ranging from 27 to 34 Wh. A full charge takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes at 15 watts, compared to less than 4 hours for the Pulse 5. The device now has improved water and dust resistance, moving from an IP67 to an IP68 certification. The Pulse 6 will be available in France starting October 6 at a price of 299.99 euros.
