Narbonne implements one-way traffic system
The City of Narbonne has launched a 260,000 euro project on Maréchal-Juin Avenue, implementing a one-way traffic system until November 13. The changes, which took effect since October 21, establish a one-way system from the Théâtre scène nationale towards the Plages intersection.Project includes infrastructure improvements
The initiative includes renovating the road and sidewalks, creating new secure bike lanes, and making bus stops accessible. Preliminary work was also carried out by GRDF in recent weeks to renovate gas lines.Avenue connects key cycling routes
Located between the Egassiairal and Mayolle neighborhoods, Maréchal-Juin Avenue is intended to better connect cycling routes in the area. The planned improvements will connect two existing bike lanes: the one linking the eastern entrance greenway to the train station and the one connecting the Theatre to the Espace de Liberté.Project extends previous redevelopment
The project extends the redevelopment of the Plages intersection, completed in September 2025. According to Sophie Pons-Pelofy, deputy mayor in charge of public space management and development, the project "is part of an overall reflection aimed at making the existing network of bike lanes more coherent and useful."Emphasis on road user coexistence
She also highlighted the coexistence of different road users, stating, "We are also cautious to ensure that these changes allow for peaceful coexistence among all types of road users: drivers, pedestrians, cyclists."
