Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the latest addition to its foldable smartphone line. This device continues the trend of offering a large, book-like phone that unfolds to reveal a massive internal screen. The phone features an 8-inch internal display that is ideal for multitasking and reading, while the external screen remains at 6.5 inches, making it usable as a regular smartphone when folded. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the thinnest foldable phone Samsung has ever made, measuring just 4.1 mm when open. It weighs 215 grams and includes advanced camera features such as a 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor and 8K video capabilities. Initially priced at 2,199 euros, the phone is now available on Amazon for 1,599 euros, offering a 600 euro discount. The internal screen is an AMOLED LTPO display with a QXGA+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits—15% brighter than the previous model, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, which ensures smooth performance for gaming and multitasking on both the internal and external screens. The camera system includes a 200-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The battery capacity has been increased to 5,000 mAh, up from 4,400 mAh on the Z Fold 7, with support for 45 W wired charging and 20 W wireless charging. Samsung claims up to 27 hours of video playback on a single charge. The hinge and frame have been redesigned to make the fold in the center of the screen more discreet. The fold mark is nearly invisible to the touch, and the screen now features an improved anti-reflective coating compared to the previous model. However, the phone has an IP48 certification, which provides protection against dust and water splashes but is considered somewhat modest for a high-end smartphone of this price range.
