Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, a foldable smartphone with an 8-inch internal screen that unfolds like a book. This model is the thinnest foldable Samsung has ever created, measuring 4.1 mm in thickness when unfolded and weighing 215 grams. It includes an AMOLED LTPO internal screen, a 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and the ability to record 8K video. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra was initially priced at 2,199 euros but is now available on Amazon for 1,499 euros, offering a 700 euro discount. The phone features a 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with x3 optical zoom. The internal screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra displays a QXGA+ resolution at 120 Hz with a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, which is 15 percent brighter than the screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The external 6.5-inch screen is still large enough for typical smartphone tasks. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, and includes a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh, up from 4,400 mAh on the Z Fold 7. It supports wired charging at 45 W and wireless charging at 20 W. Samsung claims the battery can last up to 27 hours of video playback. The frame of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra feels more robust than previous models, but its IP48 certification is still considered somewhat inadequate for a smartphone in this price range. The hinge and frame have been redesigned, making the fold in the center of the screen more discreet. Users will find the fold almost imperceptible when using the internal screen, and the anti-reflective coating has improved compared to the Fold 7. Battery life has long been a challenge for foldable smartphones, and while the numbers are improving, an 8-inch screen remains power-hungry. Without a full test, it's difficult to determine if the 5,000 mAh battery can last through a full day of intensive use. Despite these challenges, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra represents a step forward in foldable technology, offering a more refined and capable device for users seeking a unique mobile experience.
