Prime Video and Sony are reportedly working on a new Spider-Man series, inspired by the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and following the cancellation of Spider-Noir, an alternate version of the superhero from the multiverse played by Nicolas Cage. According to Deadline, the upcoming series will be produced by Kelvin Yu, known for his work on American Born Chinese, and will be based on the Clone Saga, a complex storyline from Marvel Comics that has never been adapted for television or film. The Clone Saga originally ran in Marvel Comics from 1994 to 1996 and follows Peter Parker as he begins to question whether he is the real Spider-Man after a mysterious clone appears. The story delves into themes of identity, betrayal, and self-discovery, as Peter uncovers a series of doubles and manipulations that challenge everything he believes about himself. This adaptation would mark the first time the Clone Saga is brought to the screen, offering fans a new and intricate take on one of Marvel's most complex narratives. While no official title, release date, or cast details have been confirmed, the project is currently in development with Sony, the rights holder of the Spider-Man franchise. The collaboration between Prime Video and Sony suggests a continued investment in expanding the Spider-Man universe across different platforms and formats. However, representatives from Amazon MGM Studios and Sony TV have not officially commented on the reports, leaving many details about the series still unknown. The Clone Saga has long been a fan-favorite storyline, often regarded as one of the most intricate and emotionally charged arcs in Marvel Comics. Adapting it for television would be a significant undertaking, requiring careful storytelling to maintain the complexity and depth of the original material. With Kelvin Yu at the helm, fans are hopeful that the series will bring fresh perspectives and creative storytelling to the Spider-Man mythos.
