Sony has announced that PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscribers will be able to claim six animated avatars linked to the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day starting October 6, 2026, the same day the film is released on the Sony Pictures Core application. These avatars will be available for a limited time, with the deadline set for October 6, 2027. The avatars are part of a promotional effort tied to the film's launch and are designed to let fans personalize their PlayStation profiles with characters from the movie. To access the avatars, users need at least a PS Plus Essential subscription and the Sony Pictures Core application, which can be downloaded for free from the PlayStation Store. Once installed, users must log in with their PlayStation Network (PSN) account, the same one linked to their PS Plus subscription. From there, they can search for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatar offer within the app and follow the instructions to claim it. Once obtained, the avatars can be set as a profile picture by going to Profile > Edit Profile > Avatar. It is important to note that the avatars are not listed in the PS Plus section of the PlayStation Store. Instead, the Sony Pictures Core application is the exclusive method for obtaining them. Some reports suggest that it might be possible to purchase the avatars without a PS Plus subscription by buying the digital version of the film on the same application. However, this information is not yet confirmed and should be verified once the film and avatars are available on October 6, 2026. The move highlights how Sony is integrating its film and gaming divisions, offering exclusive content to PlayStation users. By linking the release of the film with downloadable avatars, the company aims to enhance the fan experience and encourage engagement with both the movie and the PlayStation ecosystem.
