Marseille businesses get aid for damages

Following the events of October 17, the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur has reactivated a fund to support affected businesses in Marseille. The "Solidarity for Pillaged Businesses" fund offers 10,000 euros per eligible establishment to help cover immediate expenses after incidents like thefts or damage.

Eligible businesses must apply by February 28

Applications for the aid are open until February 28, 2027. The Region announced that eligible businesses will receive payments within 30 days of approval, according to its official communication from October 23. The aid is intended to help businesses resume operations after incidents like thefts or damage.

Marseille's city center suffered significant damage

The city center of Marseille accounts for a large share of the damage recorded after the events of October 17. According to the Aix-Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as reported by Made in Marseille on October 23, around 500 businesses were affected, including 317 that were damaged or looted.

Local authorities and companies contribute to the fund

The fund is supported by multiple local authorities and organizations. The Region and the Bouches-du-Rhône Department each contribute 5 million euros, while the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis contributes 1 million euros. The Marseille-based group CMA CGM also contributes 1 million euros.

Businesses must meet specific criteria

To qualify for the 10,000 euros, businesses must be independent small or medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 250 employees or social and solidarity economy structures. They must be based in the region, registered and active by October 17, 2026, and have suffered damage or thefts that impact their business activity.

Application process requires specific documentation

The application process is conducted online through a regional platform. Businesses must provide documents such as an extract from the National Business Register, bank statements, insurance claims, expert reports, or copies of complaints. Photographs of the damage can also be included. Associations must provide specific administrative documents outlined in the regional guidelines.

Support available for applicants

Those who face difficulties during the application process can contact the "Urgence Commerces" counter of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Region also provides a free phone number for assistance. The deadline for submitting applications remains February 28, 2027, with any additional documents requested during processing to be submitted through the secure messaging system of the online platform.
