Amflow’s TL Carbon e-bike is a versatile electric bicycle designed to handle both city streets and rugged off-road trails. It features wide, all-terrain tires, front and rear suspension, and practical accessories like fenders and racks. The bike uses the Avinox drive system, which previously made a significant impact on the electric mountain bike (eMTB) market. It is powered by a compact mid-drive Avinox M2 motor, offering 125Nm of torque and a maximum output of 1100W, making it suitable for climbing long, technical hills. The TL Carbon comes with an 800Wh battery, which can provide a range of up to 7.58Wh per kilometer (or 12.2Wh per mile) when carrying a significant load. The battery is removable, allowing for convenient charging at different locations. However, the bike includes features that are more suited for off-road use, such as 27.5-inch wheels, which may not roll over obstacles as effectively as the 29-inch wheels found on modern mountain bikes. Its upright geometry and relatively short suspension travel are more tailored for potholes than for significant drops or jumps. The bike includes integrated components like lighting, a kickstand, bell, mudguards, and front and rear racks. These are not designed for quick removal and add weight to the lightweight carbon-fiber frame. Removing these parts to switch between urban and trail use could take up to an hour. The Maxxis Crossmark II tires are ideal for trails but can increase rolling resistance and noise during city rides and lack advanced anti-puncture features. The absence of a chain guard can be inconvenient in the city, as the exposed drivetrain can snag clothing or leave it stained with grease. The dropper seat post is useful on trails but less practical in the city, and the seatpost and saddle cannot be easily locked when parked, making them vulnerable to theft. The front rack with a bungee cord is great for carrying errands, and the rear rack can be fitted with an MIK HD-compatible bike seat for transporting a child to daycare. Quick-release panniers and a top bag are useful for both bikepacking and city travel. The TL Carbon e-bike is described as a true off-road sport utility vehicle, capable of handling both urban and trail environments. However, due to its design and appearance, it may be considered more suited for trails than for everyday city use. The bike also includes Apple Find My technology to help locate it if it is stolen.
