Avinox, a company specializing in electric bicycle motors, has introduced a new product called the DP200, an onboard computer that mounts on the handlebar of e-bikes. The device features a 1.4-inch color touchscreen with good brightness, making it readable even in direct sunlight. The screen is treated to resist scratches and reflections and has an IP56 rating, which means it is protected against splashing water and dust — useful for outdoor cycling conditions. The DP200 also supports Apple's Find My feature and can display real-time riding data on an Apple Watch, offering users an alternative way to monitor their ride. Compared to Avinox’s previous display, which was a 2-inch OLED panel mounted on the bike’s frame, the DP200 uses a smaller 1.4-inch LCD screen. While the new screen is more compact and has fewer visual contrasts than the older model, it offers the advantage of thumb-operated controls, making it easier to use while riding. The DP200 system includes five buttons: two for adjusting the level of motor assistance, two for shifting gears, and one for turning the device on and off. This design also reduces the number of cables on the bike, helping to make the bike lighter and visually cleaner. Ferdinand Wolf, director of product experience at Avinox, said that moving the display to the handlebar improves both simplicity and safety for cyclists. With the DP200, riders can keep their attention on the road or trail ahead rather than looking down at the bike’s frame. The device also includes features that assist with gear changes, such as the ability to downshift when stopped and automatic adjustments during downhill rides. These functions aim to enhance the riding experience by making gear changes more intuitive and efficient. Despite the new features, Avinox has not yet shared details about the DP200’s price, release date, or which e-bike models will be compatible with the device. It remains unclear whether the DP200 can be retrofitted to existing Avinox bicycles already in use by customers. As the company continues to develop its product line, cyclists will likely be watching for more information about availability and integration options.
