G7, a French transportation company that carries around 30 million passengers each year, is upgrading its internal information technology systems by using a hybrid cloud solution. The company has formed a partnership with S3NS, a joint venture between Google Cloud and Thales, to use cloud services for handling anonymized data and accessing computing power for artificial intelligence tasks. According to a statement from S3NS, the goal of the agreement is to improve the security of customer data and enhance the user experience through the use of AI.
G7 is currently testing AI products within the PREMI3NS platform, which is part of S3NS's trusted public cloud offering. These AI tools are designed to help develop solutions that improve the experience of both passengers and drivers. Because mobility data is subject to strict regulations, G7 needed a service called SecNumCloud to ensure compliance. However, G7 is not moving away from its existing IT infrastructure, maintaining data centers in France for traditional data storage and IT systems. The public cloud is used to complement these internal resources, especially for handling large data volumes needed for AI applications.
Several AI and real-time data services are being tested by G7 and are expected to be deployed through S3NS. The provider noted that the growing demand for computing and data processing power required by AI algorithms has led G7 to seek additional capacity in the public cloud. Among the AI products being developed are a conversational assistant for employees and a voice agent for drivers to interact with the tablet installed in their vehicles. Before migrating to the cloud, G7 is testing features such as a real-time map of taxi activity and activity forecasts. The company also conducts an AI analysis of over one million customer reviews each year.
By combining its on-site IT infrastructure with public cloud services, G7 is creating a "dual capacity" system. This approach allows the company to speed up the analysis of large data sets and deploy new tools that add value for both internal operations and external customers. The integration of cloud and on-premise systems is part of G7's broader strategy to use technology to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
