Event celebrates BMW Motorsport heritage

From November 6 to 8, 2026, Époqu’Auto will host an event in Eurexpo Lyon to mark 40 years of BMW Motorsport. Twelve BMW M3 and M4 models will be displayed in the new Hall 3.2, with a special area for youngtimers—cars that are old but not yet classic.

Models span six generations

The display will include twelve road models representing six generations of the BMW M3 and M4. Each generation will have a series version and a limited edition. Examples are the BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution from 1990 and the BMW M3 E36 GT from 1995, known for its British Racing Green color.

Racing and special edition cars included

The event will feature twenty-three BMWs in total, including seven racing cars and four CSL models. Racing highlights include the ex-Delage from 1988 and the M4 G82 GT3 from 2022, which was driven by Valentino Rossi in twenty-seven races.

CSL models showcase legacy

A dedicated space will showcase CSL models, including the BMW E9 3.0 CSL from 1973 and the E9 3.0 CSL Batmobile from 1972. The M4 G82 CSL from 2022 and the 3.0 CSL G82 from 2023 will complete the CSL lineup of coupes.

Drift Village adds action

In Hall 3.2’s extension, a Drift Village of nearly 2,000 square meters will host about twenty drift cars and preparation vehicles. Seven drivers, including Christopher Gallo and Ben Vavasseur, will participate in daily demonstrations and two-by-two battles.

Outdoor circuit and special activities

A new outdoor circuit will be accessible from the Drift Village, allowing drift cars to perform daily demonstrations. The circuit will also feature pre-World War II motorcycles, period costumes, and a JZR trike. The Lyon Firefighters Museum will provide activities for children.
