The Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 9.7-inch is a tablet designed for casual use, such as watching animated cartoons, reading cooking recipes on the kitchen counter, or browsing comic books on the couch. It is lightweight and built to be held in one hand, positioning itself as a competitor to Samsung's Galaxy Tab A series in the same price range. One of its standout features is a 120 Hz screen, which is rare for tablets in this category and provides smoother scrolling and video playback. At the French electronics retailer Darty, the tablet is priced at 249.99 euros, but a special offer reduces the cost of a package that includes a folio case by 30 euros, bringing the total to 219.99 euros. The tablet features a 9.7-inch 2K LCD screen with a resolution of 2,048 x 1,280 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate, which enhances the experience of watching videos or browsing the web. It is powered by a 7,600 mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims can last for over 15 hours of continuous video streaming. The device includes a folio case that can be used to turn the screen on and off, adding convenience. The chassis is made of brushed aluminum and is only 7.4 mm thick, making it both comfortable to hold and sturdy in design. In terms of connectivity, the tablet includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, a USB-C port, and a microSD card slot that allows users to expand storage up to 2 terabytes. Inside, it is powered by a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor with 4 GB of RAM, which is adequate for everyday tasks like browsing the internet, checking social media, and watching favorite TV series. However, it is not powerful enough to run the most demanding games available on the Google Play Store. The tablet runs on HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16, offering a familiar user experience with some added features. Despite its strong screen and battery life, the tablet has a few drawbacks. The peak brightness of 600 nits is relatively low, making it less ideal for outdoor use. The 18 W charging speed is also quite slow, which means users may need to use an existing charger or purchase a new one.
