EasyJet partners with Starlink for in-flight internet

EasyJet has announced a partnership with Starlink, a satellite internet provider, to offer high-speed internet access to its passengers. The service will be available on an increasing number of flights starting in the first half of 2027, beginning with the airline's most modern aircraft.

Deployment timeline and aircraft focus

The initial deployment will focus on EasyJet's Airbus A320 and A321 models, which are among its newer aircraft. According to reports from the website Alloforfait, the entire fleet will not be equipped with Starlink until the beginning of 2028.

Enhanced in-flight experience for passengers

The integration of Starlink is expected to allow passengers to play games, work, or watch videos during flights with internet speeds comparable to those at home. This improvement is seen as a way for EasyJet to gain a competitive edge over airlines like Transavia and Ryanair, which currently offer slower and less reliable connections.

Wizz Air as a European competitor

In Europe, only the low-cost airline Wizz Air has previously announced plans to equip its aircraft with Starlink connections, set to begin next year. This makes EasyJet one of the leading carriers in the region to adopt the technology for in-flight internet.

In-flight purchases and airline profitability

EasyJet said the investment in Starlink will also allow passengers to order snacks, meals, or duty-free products directly from their seats. This feature is crucial for the airline, as onboard sales are a significant source of revenue and help ensure the profitability of each flight.
