Flood inventory launched

The Dembéni-Mamoudzou Intercommunal Community, known as Cadema, has started an inventory of historical floods along the Majimbini River, which stretches almost 11 kilometers from the M’tsapéré highlands to the lagoon. This effort aims to document the river's behavior during significant flood events.

Focus on major cyclones

The inventory specifically targets data from major floods caused by cyclones Kamisy, Gafilo, Hellen, and Chido. By understanding the water levels reached during these events, officials hope to better prepare for future risks.

Call for public contributions

Cadema is asking residents to share any photographs, videos, or personal memories related to these floods. These contributions will help build a more comprehensive understanding of the flood patterns and risks in the area.

Public meeting to gather testimonies

A public meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, at 10 o'clock, in the central public square of M’tsapéré, near the dispensary. This event will introduce the initiative and begin collecting firsthand accounts from the community.
