Gamers4Pets, a streaming marathon organized by Alexandre Cocquempot and hosted by content creator Wartox, is set to take place from September 29 to October 4, 2026. This is the third edition of the event, which aims to raise funds for the Confédération Nationale de la Défense de l’Animal (CNDA), an organization that supports over 270 animal shelters and local animal protection groups across France. During this six-day period, 240 streamers will take turns broadcasting live on Twitch, day and night, to collect as much money as possible for the cause. Last year, the event raised 96,000 euros for the CNDA, though the organization says this amount is still far from sufficient to meet the needs of the associations it supports. Sandrine Fghoul, president of the CNDA, described the current situation as “having the knife under our throat,” highlighting the financial strain faced by the organization and the local associations it supports. The CNDA provides emergency funding and rescue funds to help shelters and animal protection groups in times of crisis. For example, last year’s donations allowed the CNDA to assist in rescuing Czech wolves in the Creuse region and fifty Australian shepherds, who were then redistributed to various shelters. However, Fghoul explained that the CNDA often has to use its own funds to cover larger emergencies, such as a 300,000 euro emergency fund or a 150,000 to 200,000 euro rescue fund. The need for such large sums, according to Fghoul, is due to rising costs and the challenges faced by local animal protection organizations, which are often less visible than larger national groups like the SPA or the 30 Million Friends Foundation. When animals are rescued, the CNDA covers expenses such as transportation and veterinary care upon arrival at shelters. Additionally, natural disasters like floods and fires can destroy shelters, requiring urgent financial support. Fghoul urged the public to support local animal protection associations, emphasizing their vital role in the community. While the CNDA has existed for over a century, it remains relatively unknown to the general public. In 2026, the ZEvent, a major fundraising initiative, managed to collect nearly 32 million euros for a dozen associations, showing that large-scale mobilization for animal causes is possible. Fghoul expressed hope that similar levels of support could be achieved for the CNDA. Meanwhile, initiatives like Gamers4Pets have shown that younger audiences are increasingly engaged in supporting animal welfare through social media and online platforms. For many young people, participating in such events is not only about gaming but also about contributing to a meaningful cause.
