Lockheed Martin secures long-term F-35 contract

Lockheed Martin has confirmed its commitment to developing new versions of the F-35 fighter jet, supported by a multi-year contract that will enable it to compete with Boeing's upcoming F-47 aircraft.

Pentagon agrees to large-scale F-35 procurement

The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin have reached an agreement on a major multi-year contract to purchase 156 F-35 fighter jets annually for ten years, pending approval from the US Congress.

Total aircraft number calculated

The contract implies a total of 1,560 F-35s will be acquired over the decade. The US military is expected to receive more than half of these, at least 850 aircraft, with the remaining intended for export to other countries.

Contract includes spare parts and modifications

In addition to the aircraft themselves, the contract covers the purchase of spare parts and modification kits for all F-35s currently in service around the world.

Details on delivery and versions remain unclear

At this stage, neither the delivery schedule nor the specific details regarding different versions of the F-35 have been disclosed by the company or the Pentagon.

Lockheed Martin sees benefits in long-term commitment

Lockheed Martin has expressed support for the long-term contract, stating it will allow the company to streamline its industrial operations and enhance collaboration with suppliers and subcontractors.
