New in-flight entertainment system announced

Singapore Airlines has announced the introduction of a new in-flight entertainment system called KrisWorld, which will be available from 2027 on its reconfigured Airbus A350 aircraft, with future deployment on its Boeing 777-9 aircraft. The system will include features such as 4K screens, personalization options, and well-being tools, supported by Starlink for high-speed connectivity on part of the fleet.

Features of the new entertainment system

The KrisWorld system, unveiled on October 22, includes a redesigned interface and improved audiovisual equipment such as 4K touchscreens, OLED technology in certain cabins, spatial sound, active noise-canceling headphones, and Bluetooth connectivity for personal headphones. However, these features will not be available uniformly across all areas of the aircraft.

Screen sizes and connectivity details

On the reconfigured A350 aircraft, the 4K OLED screens will be 22 inches in business class and 32 inches in the new first class of the A350-900ULR. Bluetooth connectivity will be limited to business and first class on these aircraft. On the future 777-9 aircraft, Bluetooth will be available in all classes, including 16-inch 4K screens in Premium Economy and 13-inch screens in economy.

Entertainment content and user experience

The KrisWorld entertainment catalog will include more than 2,500 content items, such as films, television programs, music, and podcasts, with a renewed selection each month. Enhanced search, filters, and a mini-player that allows users to continue watching a video while exploring the catalog will improve navigation. Flight information will remain accessible without interrupting the program.

Well-being and connectivity features

Singapore Airlines highlighted that customers want more choices and flexibility in how they spend their time on board. A well-being planner will offer content focused on sleep, meditation, breathing, and stretches that can be done at one's seat. Starlink will provide high-speed connectivity for activities like video streaming, social media, gaming, and work from personal devices, starting gradually from early 2027 on select aircraft.

Deployment schedule and funding

The new KrisWorld system will equip 41 long-haul and ULR A350 aircraft involved in the refurbishment, which will be gradually reintroduced into service from 2027, as well as the future 777-9 aircraft. This schedule updates the one announced in 2024, which had planned for the first refurbished A350 to be reintroduced in the second quarter of 2026. The program, funded with 1.1 billion Singapore dollars, also includes the introduction of a first class on the seven A350-900ULR aircraft.
