Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a smaller, redesigned version of its connected tracking device that follows the 2023 model. This new tag improves on previous versions by using the Samsung Find network, Ultra Wideband technology, and Bluetooth 6.0 to offer more accurate location tracking for everyday items. The SmartTag 3 has a square shape with rounded edges, a notable change from the longer, ring-style design of the earlier model. It is lighter by 33 percent and is IP67 certified, meaning it can withstand dust and water exposure for short periods. The device also includes a central button that can trigger smart home functions, such as turning on lights or adjusting thermostats. The SmartTag 3 uses the Samsung Find network, which the company says includes more than 800 million devices worldwide. This network helps track the location of the tag even when it is out of direct range of the user’s phone. The device also uses Ultra Wideband technology, which allows for more precise location tracking, and the Channel Sounding feature of Bluetooth 6.0, which helps improve accuracy in determining the direction and distance of the tag. Users can use their smartphones to locate the SmartTag 3 and set up alerts through the SmartThings app if the tag moves beyond a specified area, which can be useful for tracking lost items or pets. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 is set to launch in December 2026 and will be priced the same as the SmartTag 2. A single unit will cost 40 euros, while a pack of four will be available for 120 euros. This pricing strategy suggests that Samsung is aiming to keep the product accessible to a wide range of consumers. The new model’s improved design and enhanced tracking capabilities are expected to appeal to users who rely on connected devices to manage their daily lives more efficiently.
