Epic Games' Fortnite has launched its Halloween event, titled Fortnite: Cauchemars, which will run from October 1st to November 1st. This seasonal update introduces a range of new content, including zombies, monstrous creatures, map changes, and horror-themed items. A standout feature is the "cursed cartridge," a special in-game item that alters the game environment and brings in characters from other popular franchises. These include Freddy Krueger from Friday the 13th, characters from Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF), Beetlejuice, and Slender Man, as well as references to The Purge. The event also introduces new Halloween spirits and includes nods to Hazbin Hotel, a Prime Video anime, 99 Nights in the Forest, a game on Roblox, a mascot from Hollow Knight, and the Yautja from Predator. The event will include "muscle hours," a special gameplay mode featuring specific weapons, starting on October 3rd. Players can also use cheat codes to unlock extra in-game rewards, such as special spirits. These codes are part of a long-standing tradition in Fortnite where players can access unique items and experiences during seasonal events. In addition to the Halloween event, October 1st marks the end of Rocket Racing, a four-wheeled racing experience that was integrated into Fortnite. The mode did not achieve widespread popularity, likely due to the success of Rocket League, another racing game developed by Epic Games. Rocket Racing had been a part of Fortnite for several months but failed to gain the same level of player engagement as other modes. Epic Games frequently updates Fortnite with seasonal events and new content to keep the game fresh and engaging for its large player base. The Halloween event is expected to attract both longtime fans and new players interested in the game's evolving story and creative features.
