Update addresses technical issues

The Coalition has released a major update for Gears of War E-Day, the latest Xbox exclusive game, which was launched on October 6, 2026, exclusively on Xbox and PC. The update aims to address a wide range of technical issues, performance problems, and bugs reported by players since the game's release.

Improvements focus on stability and performance

The update includes numerous improvements in optimization, stability, and performance across PC, Xbox, and portable consoles. Among the changes, the update focuses on stabilizing the experience, particularly on PC and portable consoles, by addressing memory management issues, crashes, and performance drops during long gaming sessions.

Multiplayer and campaign mode fixes

Multiplayer components have also seen improvements, including connectivity, social features, and anti-cheat protection. The campaign mode has received fixes for bugs that could block progress, such as boss fights that failed to start and shared screen sequences that cut short.

Achievement tracking and game modes improved

Achievement tracking and the War Journal have also been improved, although some rewards affected by a bug will need to be recovered manually. Fixes have been implemented for the Horde Siege and Versus modes, including the elimination of invisible and invincible enemies, and issues with objectives that were impossible to validate.

Comfort and accessibility features added

The update also includes comfort improvements, such as reducing the size of diagnostic text on the screen and adding an option to disable sound signals for collectible items in the campaign. General fixes include improvements to account association and connection issues, as well as fixes for the Social menu and friend list.

Campaign progression and collectibles fixed

In the campaign, fixes include problems preventing the progression of certain parts of the War Journal and achievements from being recorded. Missing collectible items cannot be automatically reassigned, but players can identify which items are missing and retrieve them manually.

Shared screen and interaction issues resolved

Several issues in shared screen mode have been resolved, including problems with adding a second player in the main menu, points of interest indicators, and error messages when canceling a "Ready" vote. Fixes have been made to prevent executions from interrupting revivals and issues with players losing control after an interaction with a supply cache.

Specific campaign chapters improved

Specific campaign chapters have received fixes, such as Act 1 Chapter 1, where enemies were appearing impossible to kill, and Act 2 Chapter 1, where players were unable to progress after a disconnection. Act 3 Chapter 2 had a problem preventing the boss from returning to the combat area, and Act 4 had issues with weapon display in cinematic sequences and NPC behavior.

Horde Siege and Versus modes updated

In Horde Siege, fixes include problems with the Medic's tactical equipment, enemies becoming invisible, and issues with the Scoria invasion event. Fixes have also been made to prevent players from installing mortar sentinels on manually turret fortifications and to resolve problems with missing ammunition and interactions with the bridge switch.

Additional gameplay and bug fixes

In Versus modes, fixes include issues with bomb interaction, weapon functionality, and display of active reload gauges. On Xbox Series S, issues with weapon reload gauges in Team Deathmatch have been resolved. Fixes have also been made to prevent players from controlling areas outside of them and from passing through the map after dying.

Other improvements and fixes

Other fixes include preventing enemies from killing players in close combat after being killed by them with the Gnasher, resolving issues with touch markers after a headshot, and preventing players from obtaining certain ribbons when conditions were met. Issues with reviving players beyond the authorized distance and being stunned by an allied concussion grenade have also been addressed.
