An investigation into drug trafficking between Spain, the mainland, and Corsica has seen new developments with a series of arrests. The prosecutor of the Republic of Marseille, Nicolas Bessone, stated that the operation began in March 2025 following a confidential intelligence report. The judicial investigation was initially opened by the prosecutors of Ajaccio and revealed an organized and hierarchical structure. The narcotics were sent from Spain to the Paris region by postal route and then transported by air to Corsica. The JIRS of Marseille took charge of the investigation in April 2026 and carried out a first phase of arrests in May, leading to the formal charging of seven individuals, including one woman. Four of them were placed in provisional detention and three under judicial supervision. During this operation, 2.3 kilograms of heroine, 2.2 kilograms of cocaine, and 2.2 kilograms of cannabis resin were seized. In September 2026, a 21-year-old Corsican network member, already known for drug trafficking, was arrested, formally charged, and placed in provisional detention. The investigations continued and uncovered the persistence of the supply network with shipments to several regions in Corsica and on the mainland. A second phase of arrests was carried out on September 29 on the order of the investigating magistrate of the JIRS of Marseille. The investigators from the Corsican Research Section and the National Investigation Unit of the gendarmerie, with the support of the GIR of Ajaccio and the Research Section of Orléans, intervened in Eure-et-Loir, Val-d'Oise, Hauts-de-Seine, Cher, and Rhône. Six individuals were arrested and two detainees were extracted from prisons in the south of France. The new searches allowed the seizure of 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, 4.6 kilograms of cannabis leaves, and 28.2 kilograms of cannabis resin, as well as nearly 15,000 euros in cash, along with luxury goods, a T-Max scooter used for deliveries, ammunition, and 15 phones. The eight individuals charged are aged 26 to 47 and are almost exclusively French nationals, except for one Algerian citizen and one American citizen. Seven of them have already been formally charged and placed in provisional detention, and an eighth was given a summons to appear before the investigating judge.
