LinkedIn is introducing new tools to help large company pages combat the issue of fake employee profiles. Verified enterprise pages can now manually remove profiles that falsely claim to be employees of the company. This action does not delete the content on the profile but removes the clickable link to the company's page and makes the experience no longer appear as verified. However, not all enterprise pages currently have access to this feature. LinkedIn is also testing a stricter method where companies may require verification through a professional email address before a profile can claim to be an employee. On the user side, LinkedIn is experimenting with a system where verified members can confirm the career paths of people they have worked with or studied alongside. After a certain number of confirmations, a verification badge appears on the profile, which the user can choose to hide. To prevent misuse, the person confirming a career path must meet three conditions: have a verified profile themselves, be connected to the member for at least one year, and have enabled two-factor authentication on their account. In the coming months, members will also be able to directly request their connections to confirm their experiences. Verification is significant on LinkedIn, as verified profiles receive 50% more interactions on their posts and nearly 90% more profile views, according to the platform. LinkedIn's verification system is also expanding to new platforms such as Truecaller, PeerSpot, Adobe, TrustRadius, and UserTesting. Members can link their verified profiles on these platforms without repeating the verification process. These features are part of a series of efforts to combat fake accounts and automated content. In May, LinkedIn expanded a filter that was previously reserved for verified members to include profile views, job applications, and comments. On the content side, the platform introduced a button to report AI-generated content last July. These measures are part of LinkedIn's ongoing efforts to improve the authenticity and reliability of its platform.
