In the early morning hours of September 26 to 27, an elderly couple in Val-d'Oingt became victims of a home invasion. Around 1:15 a.m., the local gendarmerie’s surveillance and intervention squad (PSIG) from Villefranche-sur-Saône was called to the scene after the couple reported the break-in. During the incident, the two suspects assaulted the elderly individuals and stole several pieces of jewelry. Law enforcement quickly gathered information at the scene, which led them to notice suspicious activity near the home. Shortly after the incident, the first suspect was arrested. The second suspect was discovered hiding in a nearby thicket and was also taken into custody. Both individuals were found still in possession of the stolen jewelry. The two suspects have been placed in provisional detention and are scheduled to appear in court on November 16. The elderly couple received medical attention and support from law enforcement, and the home was secured to ensure their safety. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about home security and personal safety, particularly for vulnerable members of the community. Local authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to help prevent such crimes.
