Blood donation helps save lives

Donating blood and platelets is a voluntary act that helps meet the numerous requests from hospitals and clinics in the region. Hospitals and clinics use blood products daily in emergency situations or for patients with deficiencies such as cancer or chronic diseases.

Blood is essential for medical treatment

No treatment or synthetic drug can replace blood products, and only a transfusion can help these patients recover or relieve their conditions. This makes blood donation a crucial part of healthcare.

Eligibility and preparation for donation

To donate blood, individuals must be in good health, between 18 and 70 years old, weigh at least 50 kg, and not have received a transfusion. It is recommended not to come on an empty stomach and to drink well before and after the donation.

Waiting periods for certain situations

There are also specific waiting periods for certain situations: 7 days after completing antibiotic treatment, 14 days after an infectious episode, 6 months after childbirth, 6 months after giving birth or having an abortion, 4 months after returning from a trip to a malaria-prone area, 4 months after a tattoo, piercing, or a hospital stay of more than 24 hours, and 1 to 7 days after dental treatment.
