Etihad adds A380 to Abu Dhabi-Bangkok route

Etihad Airways has introduced its Airbus A380 aircraft on the Abu Dhabi-Bangkok route, with daily round-trip flights starting on October 26. The move aims to increase capacity as the airline prepares for the high tourist season and introduces exclusive cabin options in Thailand.

Flight schedule and timing

The A380 will operate one of the four daily rotations between Abu Dhabi and Bangkok, with flights EY402 and EY403 departing at 21:20 from Abu Dhabi and 8:35 from Bangkok, respectively. Arrival times are 6:35 the next day in Bangkok and 12:20 in Abu Dhabi.

Etihad's strategy in Asia

Antonoaldo Neves, general director of Etihad Airways, said the A380's arrival in Bangkok marks an important step for the airline. He emphasized Thailand's importance as a market for Etihad's premium services and the aircraft's role in boosting capacity and enhancing passenger experiences.

Luxury cabin features

The A380 is the only aircraft in Etihad's fleet to offer The Residence, a private three-room suite for two passengers. This includes a living room, a bedroom with a double bed, and a bathroom with a shower, along with personalized catering and dedicated service.

First-class and business-class amenities

The upper deck of the A380 includes nine First Apartments, each with a chair and sofa that converts into a bed. A separate shower is available for first-class passengers. Business class has 70 seats with direct aisle access and convertible beds, while The Lobby offers a shared lounge for First and Business class passengers.

Economy class details

The A380 accommodates 415 passengers in economy class, with seats about 48 cm wide and 81 cm of row spacing. Features include individual screens, USB ports, Wi-Fi, and meals or snacks with beverages.

Etihad's broader Asian strategy

Bangkok joins Etihad's Asian A380 network, following the introduction of a daily service to Tokyo in June 2026. The airline aims to use Bangkok as a link between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, with the Abu Dhabi Stopover program offering free hotel nights for connecting passengers.
