Edison IA, a French startup based in Nantes, has raised 1 million euros in Seed funding from Go Capital, with the participation of CIC Ouest and Bpifrance. The company aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and emerging technology-intensive companies (ETIs) integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their business processes in a way that delivers measurable operational gains. Founded by Anaïs Vivion and Julien Hervouët, Edison IA offers an annual program called the Lightning Program, which combines executive culture, diagnostics, use case prioritization, agent deployment, and measurement of economic impact.
The offering is based on the Edison Hub, a platform designed to connect AI models, knowledge bases, and company software. The company distinguishes three types of agents: conversational agents that assist employees or respond to customers, autonomous agents that perform business tasks according to defined rules, and application agents that exploit company data in a dedicated interface to provide analyses, indicators, or dashboards. The challenge is not to build a proprietary model but to connect existing models to the information and actions that make up daily work.
According to INSEE, 31% of companies with 50 to 249 employees declared using at least one AI technology in 2025, compared to 58% of those with 250 employees or more. This highlights the paradox that while executives have access to an increasingly abundant offer of AI tools, they often lack an answer to key questions about which processes to transform first, which data to connect, and how to establish that time saved has actually translated into a cost reduction, additional capacity, or improved service.
The Lightning Program is offered at 50,000 euros HT per year, after a training and diagnostic phase. Edison IA announces a no-fee cancellation if the return on investment is not demonstrated within six months, according to the terms specified in the contract. This is the most singular element of its positioning, because when most publishers charge licenses per user, API consumption, or integration projects, Edison IA promises to share a portion of the risk associated with deployment.
The company's target segment is between 50 and 5,000 employees, comprising structured SMEs and ETIs, approximately 25,000 companies in France. At this stage of development, these organizations generally have an information system, support functions, and sufficiently recurring processes to justify a cross-functional project, but not always internal data or AI teams capable of executing it alone.
Edison IA's technological independence has become a commercial argument: models evolve quickly and companies want to limit their dependence on a single supplier. The value of such a device is therefore less in the model than in its implementation: connections to software, access rights, quality of documents, validation rules, and adoption by teams. These are also the prerequisites necessary to deploy AI at the scale of an organization, beyond the first pilots.
The company's ability to reuse connectors, use cases, and sector-specific methods will determine the margin of the model. Conversely, if each integration requires significant mobilization of experts, the platform risks remaining an extension of a service activity. The challenge is also commercial, SMEs and ETIs do not buy AI as they buy a software license: they commit their processes, data, and teams. Edison IA will therefore have to demonstrate, case by case, that the gains announced are not only observed in a pilot but captured in the organization.
The funding is intended to strengthen development and sales teams, enrich the Edison Hub catalog, and expand the model nationally. The company, which has about ten employees, must enrich its agent catalog and hire in deployment and sales while avoiding that each new client becomes a fully customized consulting project.
