A Florida woman was arrested after allegedly stealing a police vehicle and driving it across multiple counties before being taken into custody. Shannon Marie Dillon, 42, was found near Interstate 95 and Gatlin Boulevard in St. Lucie County wearing a bulletproof vest belonging to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), according to local authorities. The stolen cruiser, reported missing around 9 p.m., was discovered abandoned nearby about an hour later. During the drive, the vehicle reportedly reached speeds of up to 100 mph, though no crashes or injuries were reported. Body-camera footage released by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office shows deputies surrounding Dillon with their guns drawn, ordering her to the ground before taking her into custody. A deputy pointed his gun at the suspect and yelled, "Get down on the ground!" while another officer shouted, "Down! Down!" A photo of Dillon after her arrest shows her with gravel on her face and chest, suggesting she may have been injured during the confrontation. Dillon now faces multiple charges in St. Lucie County, including grand theft of law enforcement equipment, unlawful use of a police badge or vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. The weapons charge comes from a department-issued rifle found inside the cruiser, not on Dillon herself, according to both the St. Lucie and Broward sheriff's offices. She also faces charges in Broward County, including grand theft from an authorized emergency vehicle and grand theft. Dillon is being held at the St. Lucie County Jail, with a total bond set at $107,500. It remains unclear how Dillon accessed the cruiser or why she allegedly drove it to Port St. Lucie. The BSO has launched an Internal Affairs investigation into the theft. Later Wednesday, Dillon reportedly acted erratically during a bond hearing, smiling, giggling, and making unsolicited comments. A judge repeatedly tried to get her to focus on the proceedings, but Dillon interrupted with remarks about terminating her parental rights. A man seated nearby appeared stunned by her comments. Dillon was previously arrested in January in Coral Springs on charges of trespassing and obstructing an officer.
