A manhunt is underway in Louisiana following a violent stabbing incident that resulted in four deaths and left a child in critical condition. The attacks occurred in Houma, a city approximately 60 miles southwest of New Orleans. Authorities have identified Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, as a person of interest in the case. Deputies were called to the 200 block of Ashland Drive, where they discovered a child suffering from multiple stab wounds. The child was quickly transported via air ambulance to a hospital outside the local area, where they remain in critical condition. As the investigation progressed, law enforcement found multiple victims inside nearby homes. At least four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. So far, authorities have not released the identities of the victims or confirmed if they had any connection to Solet. Officials emphasized that identifying a person of interest does not mean an arrest has been made or criminal charges have been filed. The cause of the violence remains unclear, but authorities believe Solet is still in the area. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Blake Tabor stated that investigators are using all available resources to locate and apprehend Solet as soon as possible. Tabor added that there is no indication Solet plans to leave the state or flee the area. Solet has a prior criminal record; in December 2019, he was arrested in Houma for a separate stabbing incident. He was charged with attempted second-degree murder after stabbing a 59-year-old woman multiple times and leaving her locked in a motel room. Houma police discovered her with severe injuries on the floor of her room. Solet was arrested about 18 hours later without incident and was later found not guilty by a jury. Authorities are urging anyone with information about Solet’s location to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-876-2500. The community remains on high alert as law enforcement works to resolve the case and ensure public safety.
