WARDOGS, a first-person shooter game developed by Bulkhead and available on Steam, has received a new update, version 0.1.2, which addresses several issues and introduces new features. The update aims to counter certain experience point (XP) and money exploits used by players, as well as fix security issues that emerged since the game's early access launch. A new server browser has been added, allowing players to more easily find servers that match their skill level. Other improvements and fixes have been included to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
The update includes several fixes, such as resolving the crash error "WD-L020" under Windows 11 and addressing issues caused by the latest Windows 11 update, KB5124010. It also fixes various gameplay bugs that affected the fairness of the game, including validation checks for the revive action now being fully managed by the server, reducing the possibility of abuse across the map. A fix for a vehicle traversal exploit has been implemented, with rewards now capped. Rewards obtained for destroying constructible elements are now proportional to their construction progress, and destroying a placed plan no longer gives the full reward. Depositing pallets in a BOA located outside the zone now gives reduced rewards.
Server browser and minor interface improvements include a new "Deploy" option that allows better highlighting of the existence of "Infantry Mode" and "Low Level" community servers. Players can now choose between official servers, community servers, infantry mode, or low level. Advanced filters have been reintegrated into the list of official servers, and long server names are no longer truncated. Hovering over an entry displays the full name. After clicking "Join," players will first see that the connection is in progress, then their position in the queue, if applicable. The anonymous mode now hides the server name on the loading screen, similar to the streamer mode. The server name remains hidden in the pause menu of WARDOGS, unless players choose to display it. The region selection now indicates how many regions have been selected, and the controller is now supported on the "Deploy" selection screen.
Other fixes in the 0.1.2 update include improvements for community servers, such as the ability for server administrators to set a daily reboot time (UTC), specify the RCON AllowedHosts parameter to restrict access to RCON, and cap the length of RCON messages and broadcasts. RCON now uses the Standard detail level by default instead of Complete, and configuration responses no longer expose internal server elements. The ServerImageURL parameter is now validated when loading the configuration.
Improvements to the stability of WARDOGS servers have been made, including various server stability fixes and strengthening server security to prevent exploits. Additional bug fixes include thrown objects (grenades, smoke bombs, and C4) no longer being usable from closed vehicle seats, the adaptive reticle now correctly hiding during iron sights aiming, and a fix for critical points on constructible elements that reappeared at the spot just hit, ended up pushed into the corners, or jumped to the other end of a structure. They now prefer a location accessible from the player's position. A Havoc bug causing an increase in damage taken from 20 and 30 mm cannon fire has been fixed.
Improvements to WARDOGS localization translations have also been made. The second season of WARDOGS is coming, and there will be new content. The studio announced that the second season, which will be presented next week, will be "more ambitious" and will include new map conditions, additional equipment, rebalancing, and new features.
